Have you ever played a MOBA? Just curious. I see a lot of people write the genre off without even trying them. Dota has earned its reputation tho, so I'm not even gonna say it's for everyone if they just tried it. It took me like 2 full years of playing to not be totally retarded at it, and I'm still pretty awful tbh.

I've watched my flatmates play them. They're basically an RTS with bits cut off them until they're Diablo-simple, and then you make it a team-based versus game? What is it about them that makes you think I would ever give a crap, knowing what you know about how I feel about that kind of stuff? It's just not my deal. I've also seen in-person how they consume people's lives like MMOs - that's definitely not appealing to me at this stage in my life.

Nah you would hate them for sure, I was just curious if you'd tried. I like that they make me feel like a small cog in a large machine. Like I'm important to victory, but if something goes wrong it could have been any number of things fucking up. They reward individual skill and punish individual failure in equal measure, which leads to high highs and low lows. As someone who actively hates himself I use it as both a form of self flagellation and as practically the only way for me to feel anything at all anymore.

you could try cutting yourself. that's what my flatmate did. then he started going to the gym. i liked him better when he was cutting himself (but i still hated him, ofc)
